Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I use my save file from the 2017 version? Is it compatible?

A: No. The game has been changed significantly on a fundamental level. You will have to start over.

Q: Will any future updates break my save?

A: No. Saves started in v1.0 will be compatible with future updates.

Q: Just how many new features have been added in this update compared to the 2017 version?

A: More than I could easily type out in this FAQ, and that’s not a meme. Play the game to find out!

Q: Is this the final update or is more coming?

A: This is the final major update. An update that completes the Battle Channel may happen in the future, with bugfix updates in between.

Q: Is an RTC (Real-time clock) required for any of Clover’s features?

A: No, Clover does not have any features that rely on an RTC.

Q: Why is the Battle Channel not available in this update?

A: In the 2017 version there was a major bug that would delete Pokémon from your PC, and it was deemed more important to finish the main game before correcting the battle facility.

Q: Aside from the Ebin Islands, is there new content in the Fochun region too?

A: Yes, Fochun has new music, characters, move tutors, Route Masters, and new graphics.

Q: Are all 386 Clovermon able to be obtained now?

A: Yes, every mon can be obtained normally in the game now between Fochun and the Ebin Isles without the need for Wonder Trade.

Q: Can I randomize Clover?

A: No. Trying to randomize Clover will break the game!

Q: I heard there is anti-cheat in this game. Are save states considered cheating?

A: No. Save states are purely an emulator feature so the game can’t detect them.

Q: Hey, the wiki says (clovermon) learns (move), but it doesn’t? (Or similiar incorrect info)

A: We don't run the Clover wiki and never did. The information there wasn't even correct for the 2017 version because some guy went around changing info on it.

Q: Why am I getting so little Exp?

A: At certain points in the game there will be soft level caps based on the next boss battle. This is to encourage strategy rather than overleveling. Defeat them to gain more Exp.

Q: How do I get into the door in the Animango Sewer? Do I need the Cellar Key from the Game Corner?

A: No, the Cellar Key is an optional item for a different event. You need to finish Memes Inc. to unlock the Sewer door.

Q: What happened to obtaining the Sewer Key in the Memes Inc. quest?

A: It was deemed an unnecessary step to the whole quest. You just need to finish Memes Inc. and it will unlock.

Q: Is the new Trainer AI cheating?

A: The AI will know what moves your Pokémon have but will not know what move you’re choosing.

Q: How do I get to the Ebin Isles?

A: After beating the Fochun League, proceed to Innawoods Town just like in the 2017 version. Defeat one of the Gym Leader Duos to first get a ticket to the Battle Channel.

Q: What’s up with the Trainer levels in the Ebin Isles?

A: The trainers in the Ebin Isles scale their party based on the highest leveled member of your party, starting at level 40.

Q: How do I do multiplayer battles? Do multiplayer battles even work?

A: Link battles are very buggy and there is basically no way for us to debug them. Use the Clover Showdown server instead.

Q: Why did the devs disappear for 3 years?

A: We are but small indie developers, please understand :^)
